Back from Hawaii and finally getting around to posting.
Hopped over to Maui to do the Cycle to the Sun Race up Mt. Haleakala with WW and Steve C. We had a gorgeous house to crash at and a great time riding and surfing. Maui is a paradise.
Me doing the S.U.P surfing (stand up surfing) thing- which is hard as, but fun as.
Steve C. riding it to the beach.
Good thing I brought my super light Trek Space Shuttle Race Bike with extra lightness wheels made from Martian polymers since the race goes from sea level to 10k ft in about 50km! Apparently it's the steepest road in the world in terms of elevation gained over distance. Oh, and I stopped eating Kat's cookies for a week (which, if you've ever had my wife's cookies, you know how hard this is!) in order to keep the weight down. Rough one, that.
Anyway- we all made it to the top and suffered like dogs in the altitude, but it was well worth it and I even got lei-ed- at 10,000 ft no less! Nice.
Steve, WW, and myself at 10k ft!
Either way, it was a fun time. The ride up was hard and caused me to see 13 shades of Jesus at
about 8500ft, got dropped by a 45+ guy (standard this year) and a tryingtobeanathalete guy on
a TT bike! How droll...about 8500ft, got dropped by a 45+ guy (standard this year) and a tryingtobeanathalete guy on
I got home, painted the house and now I'm ready to start looking for a 'real' job.
WW catching a wave!
